Source Water Assessment
for the Cache la Poudre River

An EPA National Pilot

Map History

The following maps (with coordinates) were provided by Fort Collins Utilities and used to produce the watershed (source water protection area) used in the following maps.

The following maps have been developed in the course of producing the SWA maps being used for this project.

swpusgs.jpeg (408k) - Map composition Base Map using USGS hydrological unit 10190007

arnfwshd.jpeg (419k) - Base map comparing the SWAA watershed boundary and ARNF watershed boundary

100khydro.jpeg (344k) - Base map with sample 1:100,000 hydrology

benwshd.jpeg (387k) - Base map comparing USGS hydrological unit 10190007 and SWAA watershed boundary defined by Ben

metadata.txt - Data source descriptions (for above maps)

merged-ws.jpg (67k) - Base map demonstrating the newly merged watershed boundary. It now accounts (seperately) for the Fort Collins Utility watershed, its transbasin diversions, and the USGS Hydrologic Unit (entire, natural watershed).

Sand Creek WS.jpg (117k) - A map provided by Fort Collins Utilities that shows some adjustments to be made to the Sand Creek Transbasin Diversion portion of the SWAA. (Not yet implemented as of 5/11/99)

political1.jpg (235k) - 5/20/99 Counties

political2.jpg (237k) - 6/25/99 Counties showing railroads

diversions1.jpg (240k) - Map showing the transbasin diversions where water is drawn from outside the natural watershed.

EPA BASINS data (samples of): basins1.jpg, basins2.jpg, basins3.jpg - These data can be downloaded for free from the EPA. Also, the software provides extensive data analysis tools for modelling.

200-240buffer.jpg - [Revised / Corrected] A map showing a 200' (zone 1) and 240' buffer around all rivers, creeks, etc. At this scale this buffer is not visible and therefore not useful.

businesses1.jpg - Red triangles indicate (all) 1997 businesses within our SWAA.

landcover1.jpg - USGS Land Use / Cover data

landcover2.jpg - '92 Larimer County Land "Use" data - Its' actually land cover data adapted from satelite imagery / photography. It's more detailed, but probably less useful here.

psoc1.jpg - Aboveground (green X's) and Underground Storage Tanks (USTs) (black dots), and Leaking USTs (orange squares).

geocoding1.jpg - A map showing all roads (in Tiger/Line 97 data) that are unusable for geocoding because they are not named (shown in yellow).

storet1.jpg - A map identifing each storet station (154 within the SWAA).

Base Maps (working revisions)

basemap1.jpg (102k) - Base map (like above) with extended DEM / Hillshade relief map that offers some margin around the watershed (including the transbasin diversions).

basemap2.jpg (?), basemap3.jpg (351k), basemap4.jpg (304k), basemap5.jpg (144k), basemap6.jpg (634k), basemap6b.jpg (439k), basemap7.jpg (243k), basemap8.jpg (250k), basemap8b.jpg (260k), basemap8c.jpg (254k), basemap9.jpg (136k), basemap10.jpg, basemap11.jpg
