In your Goals Statement for the ESL Education Program, please share some of your reasons for choosing to seek an Endorsement in Teaching Linguistically Different Students, and / or for wanting to enter a Masters Degree program in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in English as a Second Language teaching. Address the questions below and tell something of your personal background, your experiences that relate to your goals and your motivation for entering the ESL Education Program. Your statement will be read independently by three readers. Each reader will assign a 1 - 20 point value.
Your statement should be word-processed, approximately 2 - 3 pages, clearly and concisely written, and in good professional form.
· What motivates you towards teaching in an ESL classroom or school program?
· What specific events or experiences in your life have led you to want to be an ESL teacher?
· Describe your thought process as you made the decision to become an ESL teacher and to apply to the ESL Education Program.
· What assets (strengths and/or resources) do you bring to the ESL Education Program and to the ESL teaching profession?
· What interests you in participating in piloting these courses?
Please note that you are not limited to these questions. However, we do expect that you answer all of them at a minimum. We also expect a coherent and thought statement that communicates your interests and goals related to the ESL teaching profession.
