Christina Jimenez, Chicano/Borderlands/Latin American History

Professor Christina Jimenez, who joined our department in fall 2000, received her Ph.D. from the University of California, San Diego. She teaches the sequence of Latin American history courses, as well as a variety of courses in Latino/Chicano history, and will also be part of the Ethnic Studies program on campus. Christina's dissertation was entitled Making the City Their Own: Political Culture in Urban Mexico, 1880-1920.

In the 2003-04 school year Christina was honored with an award from the Shelby Davis Cullum Center at Princeton University, where she was a fellow in residence. In the fall of 2004, she was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of California at Santa Cruz.
