ANDRE EYL
In the El Pomar Center: "Harlequin Series"—mixed media (1st floor, Citti room near IT help desk)
Andre EyI’s distinctive style, a combination of subject matter, bold composition, heavy texture and searing color, is instantly recognizable, and his work is prized by collectors throughout the United States, Europe and South America. In each piece EyI imparts to the viewer a sense of drama in the history of and the conflict and harmony between various cultures, often using icons to provide a more obvious context.
Each piece is thoughtfully composed using various hand-cut templates and stencils to juxtapose freeform abstract painting. Much of Eyl’s technique was fostered during his studies at San Francisco State University and in various workshops at the Otis Art Institute of Parsons School of Design in Los Angeles.
Andre lives and works in Seattle, Washington.
