The CU-Colorado Springs Student Multicultural Affairs Mentorship Program encourages community among diverse students, faculty, and staff through quality mentoring partnerships and academically empowering and culturally affirming group activities. Frequent contact, inside and outside of classes, with campus staff and faculty, is a major factor in student motivation, campus involvement, and retention while enriching the overall educational experience. Moreover, effective mentoring partnerships promote faculty and staff development through increased understanding of diverse student perspectives. The program pairs a Mentor and 1-4 Student Mentees who meet both individually and as a team in an informal setting at least twice a month. The Faculty Mentor offers guidance and friendship to the student pursuing his/her education. The program also sponsors various academically relevant and culturally enriching group activities.
