Questions & Answers from Parents

Q:  If a student wants to go to PPCC, is there financial aid through the Pre-Collegiate Program?

A:  Yes, there is a Pre-Collegiate Student scholarship for students who attend PPCC.  You will need to contact our liaison, Jennifer Sengenberger; whom is the director of Career Services at PPCC to inform her of your intent and needs.  You may reach her at 540-7143 or email jennifer.sengenberger@ppcc.edu.

Q:  How often is the website updated for parent's information?  And can parents offer suggestions?  Also, can we survey the students to see what content they would like to receive in the program?

A: The PCDP website is updated weekly.  The parents pages are a new addition to the site but will be updated weekly as well and more if needed.  We love to hear suggestions from parents as well as students, we only ask that you help by supplying a solution to any problem you identify. On September 10th distributed a survey to the students asking them what activities they would be most interested in receiving at Saturday Academies.

Q:  My student is transferring to District 49, will she still be able to participate in the program?

A: Absolutely.  Anytime your student moves to any school within the city, they can still participate n the program, no matter what school.

Q:  How many juniors will be allowed to participate in the summer program?

A:  The minimum amount of students is 75, and now that we are no longer hosting students in the dorms, our hope is to accommodate more students.

Q:  Do you think we could have more parent brain storming sessions?  It would be helpful if 10th grade parents could talk to 11th grade parents and so forth.

A:  Anytime we have Parent Alliance meetings we encourage parents to get to know one another.  We will try to schedule a Parent Brainstorming session at the spring Parent Alliance Meeting.

Q:  Is there a timeline for everything a senior needs to do to be college bound?

A:  Yes, there is a timeline.  Go to this page.

  • Josh loves the program and looks forward to the Saturday Academies.

  • Really well presented and informative session.

  • I would suggest that when meeting all together in a large room that you would repeat the questions asked so that the public can understand what was asked.

  • I will be looking online for more answers.

  • Ms. B - I love your communications/leadership stuff. Congratulations on your new marriage!  You deserve the best because you are the best.
