While
there are many definitions of sustainability, the most commonly cited
definition is from the 1987 Brundtland Commission Report that states:
"sustainable
development meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future
generations to meet their own needs."
Ultimately, for
the CU-Colorado Springs
campus, our definition is based on creating a model campus that maximizes
energy and resource efficiency, significantly reduces waste, and allows
the creativity of our educational community to continually improve our
campus.
